In this section Duwa Suqur demonstrates the superhuman vision described in §4, by spotting, from an incredible height, a potential bride for his younger brother among the trekking nomads in the valley below.

[ügüler-ün] This is a very common verbal form in Mongolian. It is a combination of the verb ügüle- and the consequential converb -r ün which is also sometimes referred to as the ‘gerund of reporting’. The literal translation would be something like ‘saying thus’ or ‘speaking in this way’. When ügüler-ün or any similar verb e.g. asaghar-un ‘asking thus’ is used, the discourse which it marks is usually followed by some kind of verbal noun so as to indicated that the said discourse has come to an end. This is usually a form of the verb keme- (e.g. kemen, kemejü).
[tede negüjü ayisuqun irgen-u dotor-a]
tede is the plural form of the pronoun tere ‘that’ and refers here to the migrating nomads. ayisuqun is the plural form of the verbal noun ayisuqui. dotor-a is used here as a postposition, meaning amongst.
Translation: these nomadising, approaching people amongst.

[6.2] [nigen qara’utai tergen-u eljige-tü]
It would appear from first reading that qara’utai is either some sort of pre-classical form of qarabtur (blackish, somewhat black) derived from qar-a, or it some derivation of qara- (to look after, observe) either in the sense of ‘visible’ as in a ‘that cart which is visible’ or a derivation of qaraghul (guard, sentry) as in ‘a guarded wagon’. However the matter is settled by the Yüan Chao Bi Shi, where the scribe has noted that qara’utai does in fact mean ‘black’. However, I think that some doubt does still remain as this could equally have been a scribal error.

[6.3] [nigen okin sain buyu]
Translation: one,a/ maiden/ beautiful/ is

Translation: man-to/ not/ having-been-given/ if/ Dobun Mergen/ younger-brother/ my-very-own/ to-you/ we-shall-ask/ saying/ Dobun Mergen/ younger-brother/ his-own/ in-order-to-see/ sent
Gloss: My dear brother, if she has not been promised to another man, we shall ask her for you! - said Duwa Suqur, and with that he sent Dobun Mergen to find out.
