Bibliography

This short bibliography mainly covers books dealing with Mongolian literature and language prior to the adoption of the Cyrillic alphabet in the 1940s. However, it is worth pointing out that this changeover to Cyrillic only affected the Mongols living in what was then the Mongolian People's Republic (or Outer Mongolia). The Mongols of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China continue to use the Uighur-Mongolian script (Mon. uiγurčin mongγol üsüg). Furthermore, since the establishment of the Inner Mongolia University in Höhhot in 1957 a vast number of 'old-script' books have been published, some of which have been listed below.
